Fifteen Right: Part I ARC and Pre-order Information

Hey, everyone!

Here’s some need-to-know information about Fifteen Right: Part I!

Blurb:

An assassin determined to discover the reason behind the deaths of a team from his city finds more than he bargained for when he learns the truth.

Aster Westmayne was supposed to be dead, a child lost to starvation or predators when her father had been temporarily taken captive by his enemy. Little did anyone know, she was instead abducted and locked away as a servant inside the broken city of New Bethel, hidden from the eyes of anyone capable of knowing who she truly was—the daughter of a Reaper and combative prodigy who’d abandoned his city and duty with his wife. Ten years later, her father in secret brought her to his home, safe inside the stone walls and mountains surrounding Jarsil.
With Garin Westmayne now in control of the largest and most dangerous city and a daughter being trained to follow in his footsteps, one man makes it his mission to kill her and stop what he believes to be the destruction of everything. But she might save him before he can, leaving him with no choice but to choose a side in the decade-long feud between the two most powerful men in the world.
Sometimes, the devil you know isn’t always better than the one you don’t.

The story of a brutal man trapped in a cycle of violence and despair as he finds something truly worth fighting for and the lengths to which he’ll go to keep it safe. A companion to the Reave Series, see the story from his perspective.

Tropes, Genres, and Things:

Enemies > Friends > ? • Slow Burn • From His Perspective • Dark & Gritty • He Falls First • Age Gap

Dark Fantasy • Assassins • Espionage • Romantic Fantasy • Dystopian

A note on ‘companionship’:

While this is a companion to the Reave Series, her books are not necessary to have been read first. If you’ve read Reave and its series, you know there are some twists there! Those twists are laid bare in his books, some stated plainly, some common knowledge (and some so common knowledge that they’re stated plainly in his blurb), but he has his own things to discover and work through/for.

Either way you go, the story will be different, and I can’t say that either starting point is inherently ‘better’, as each would alter the other (and each person is different, so I can’t say which way any individual would prefer). I like to think the story as a whole is best when it IS whole, just like partners making one another better in life. ^.^ <3

A note on age range:

Aster’s books are (mature) Young Adult, aimed at 15+. I’ve accepted that it would be rated PG-13 if it were a movie, which is a younger age than I always say. There are mature themes that I feel push past 13, along with violence (especially in later books). (I often tell myself, though: Hunger Games was rated PG-13, and the violence in Reave is not worse than that.) I’ve always felt Reave and its series was suitable for anyone who can happily watch a PG-13 movie without being damaged—older teens along with adults who might not want some of the severe content that comes with a different rating.

Fifteen Right is NOT Young Adult. While there is no graphic sex in his books, the manner in which it’s handled is VERY different. He is not a child or anything close to one, and he is a very, VERY... rough man, in dealing with people in general and in being ‘inside his head’. The tone and feel of Reave might be dark, but there’s an innocence to it. That is different in his books.

If Fifteen Right were a movie presented as-is with no ‘nice-ing up’, it would be rated R. Language alone would do it. Cursing is much more prevalent here, violence is much more casual, and I will say again...

He is a rough man.

But I sure do love him. SO much.

Disclaimer: This is a book about assassins, from the perspective of a man who has been trained from childhood—basically infancy—to kill for a living. It takes place in a dark and dangerous world, where trust in some ways doesn’t exist at all. He might have some scars, but he at his core is the sort of man who, if you try to put a scar on him, will quite literally cut you into pieces and not think twice about it.

Second Disclaimer: This is, ultimately, a love story. It’s two very odd ducks finding their perfect (for them) person after lives of extreme hardship and pain, and them fighting their hearts out to take care of one another. But he’s not some shining knight like you'd get in a nice fairytale, and she’s not a helpless maiden. They’re both hard and hardened people who find soft places for one another. (It can be both.)

The story from his perspective (and taking place over the course of five books) is by far the most beautiful love story I’ve ever written. You don’t fully get that from hers, because she’s far too secretive. He’s not.

If that sounds good to you??
